This year’s Executive Management Seminar was a great turnout of BSC leaders and their management teams. Strategies for achieving company priorities were discussed over this 2 day gathering. Here are three takeaways from the insights we learned from listening to these fascinating discussions:
- Time management skills: How can I improve mine?
We all know that it can feel like there is never enough time during the day to get everything done. Time management is emotional, not logical. You need to give yourself the emotional permission to spend time on things today that will give you more time tomorrow.
- Communication and delegation are key
“Upward communication,” this is a model to be used to help the first in command delegate responsibilities, issues, and decisions to those whose strengths are best fit. This allows the first and second in command to do what they are best at and not stay up all night worrying!
- Be willing to work hard
Instead of looking at others who have reached accomplishments and thinking they must be great leaders or excellent strategists, it is better to admit that they have worked exceptionally hard to reach those goals and that we may not be trying hard enough. We need to be willing to step up to the plate and face the challenges in front of us.
